Psychiatric Residential Mental Health Fac/Residential Mental Health Fac (formerly IRTC)

On 6/25/07, Intensive Residential Treatment Facilities (IRTC) changed names.  These facilities are now certified for Medicaid as Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facilities (PRTF) and licensed by Georgia as Residential Mental Health Facilities (RMHF). 
Definition:
A specialized hospital that provides 24-hour care and has the primary function of diagnosing and treating patients with psychiatric disorders who are eighteen years old or younger.
Exemptions:
Any residential mental health facility for children and youth operated by the federal government (except for Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facilities).
Type Regulation:
A facility must obtain a permit. A facility choosing to participate in federal programs must be certified.
