Primary Health Care
The Office of Regulatory Services (ORS) monitors, inspects and licenses or registers primary health care facilities, programs and services. As of February, 2009, Health Care facilities include 287 ambulatory surgical centers, 1 birthing center, 397 clinical laboratories, 1 comprehensive rehabilitation facility, 260 drug treatment centers, 260 end stage renal dialysis clinics, 1 eye bank, 11 hmo's, 105 home health agencies, 166 hospices, 153 hospitals, 11 intermediate centers for the mentally retarded, 4 maternity homes, 41 narcotic treatment centers, 88 outpatient physical therapy centers, 686 private home care providers, 6 dual pyschiatric residential treatment facilities/residential mental health facilities, 80 rural health clinics, and 7 traumatic brain injury facilities in FY 2007. ORS also registers over 7400 x-ray machines.
Most health care facilities are also certified by ORS for reimbursement under the federal programs Medicare and Medicaid. Federal certification is a voluntary program.
